Season 4 introduces the Omens mechanic, which will feel familiar to experienced ARPG players. It essentially revolves around entering a zone, defeating waves of enemies within a confined area, and culminating in a challenging boss encounter.
While the concept isn't groundbreaking, it does its job well. The encounters can become quite difficult, especially when chaining multiple Omens together. These chains lead to a final boss fight that is significantly more demanding than standard encounters, adding a layer of risk and excitement.
The system also includes branching rewards. After completing an Omen chain, players can choose how to extend their run-whether by adding more encounters, gaining additional stability, or collecting currency tied to cheap Last Epoch gold the mechanic. This flexibility adds a strategic element to progression.
